Story & Atmosphere
Welcome to Big Tomy's, an iconic eatery nestled in the heart of Los Angeles at 11289 W Pico Blvd. This local gem has become a beloved destination for food lovers, where nostalgia meets culinary delight. With a vibrant atmosphere and a menu brimming with classic American and Mexican offerings, Big Tomy’s has managed to keep its charm alive over the years.
One of the highlights of my visit was the sheer passion of the staff. Customer Adam Shaukat remarked on the attentive and humorous service that made even a late-night visit enjoyable. The team at Big Tomy's doesn't just serve food; they engage with customers, creating a welcoming environment that goes beyond the ordinary fast food experience.
The menu is a tempting collage of favorites. From the beloved double chili cheeseburgers—praised by long-time patrons like Caleb Goddard who recalls indulging in them since the 80s—to the crispy fries and rich strawberry shakes that left Sarah craving more, every item reflects a commitment to quality and flavor. Meka Lindquist’s rave review about the expertly seasoned pastrami only reinforces the sentiment that Big Tomy's is serious about its offerings. It’s a place where food is not just served, but celebrated.
Whether you're swinging by for a quick bite or planning a leisurely meal in the cozy diner setting, Big Tomy’s provides fair pricing and a diverse menu that caters to everyone’s cravings. And with ample parking available, your experience is made even more convenient. This eatery isn’t just a pit stop; it’s a journey into L.A.'s culinary heritage, where every dish tells a story.
So if you find yourself in Los Angeles, make sure to stop by Big Tomy’s. It is a beloved landmark that promises not only satisfaction but an authentic taste of the city, served with a side of genuine hospitality. You may just find your new favorite eatery—and I doubt you'll leave without a smile.
“ This place is so epic, and the guys working there last night were real gentlemen. Should have caught their names. It's not often you walk into a fast food joint just an hour before closing only to encounter a few guys working there who are actually passionate about the food in a real way and want to engage with us as they did. They were crackin jokes, makin people smile, and stirring up some bangin eats. The food here is exactly what it looks like. Old school burger joint with all the classics, and some additions of mexican influence that add that spicy picante zest that american burger joints have always been lacking. The ice cream is great too -- not van leuwen or whatever.. this stuff has that texture in the ice cream that takes me back to the little diner i used to go to as a kid in my home town. Much praise to these guys. Give them raises!! They deserve it. They're raising the guest experience, bringing back returning customers, and deserve to be compensated for it!! I'll definitely be back -- if nothing else, I'll be getting one of those hats. They got killer merch too. ”
“ Fast,Fun,Funnest and Only what I want for French Fries and Strawberry shakes right now and later then lol but doesn't it already sound better that way instead of coffee shakes or chocolate shakes extra thick for me/not sure if Big Tomy's makes a coffee shakes but there is.....chocolate,vanilla and strawberry ice cream I saw on the board the menu hanging up and across to read. I like Tomy's for short..I like Big Tomy's a lot and uh huh the booths are fit clean and comfortable. Thanks Tomy's! ”
“ Glad to see this LA classic still standing after all these years. I used to go here for late night double chili cheeseburgers in the 80s. The food was always delicious. 40 years later I went back, and everything was just as I remembered it - great burger with a nice thick tomato and the chili and cheese on the double chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries blended together perfectly. Everything hit the spot! Thanks Big Tomy’s. (Sad to see Kelbo’s across the street is gone). ”
“ I’m a huge pastrami fan, and on my way home from the Federal Building, I decided to stop here. I was absolutely impressed — not just by the atmosphere and friendly service, but by the incredible quality of the food. The pastrami was seasoned to perfection. Definitely worth the stop and an absolute win for any pastrami lover! ”
“ Stopped in for my first time last night because I live extremely close. Know they used to be 24 hours prior to the fire but now they are open early and close very late. It’s a traditional to go oriented spot where you can also dine in. They have traditional American and Mexican options and the free parking lot attached which is a real bonus. Pricing is also fair and the menu is large. They are most known for their Chili Cheeseburger so I wanted to try that for my first time. I will say it was seasoned well and the chili has a great taste. I don’t order that often so it was nice trying it again. The patties are not very large, almost the size of In-N-Out but a little larger. We also ordered the BLT with Avocado and overall it was OK because there was not much bacon in it compared to other places that I’ve been to recently. If they would add more bacon and Dijon, it would make it much better. We also ordered the french fries which I would suggest splitting one order because two orders is really a lot of fries and one would really cover enough for two people. ”
